The Official Gazette of Extremadura (DOE) published this Tuesday the decree establishing the regulatory bases for aid to the sector attraction and establishment of digital nomads in the Autonomous Community of Extremadura and the first call for Program I is approved.
The objective of the decree is to establish the regulatory bases for subsidies for the attraction and establishment in the region of digital nomads who carry out work or a professional activity remotely and through the exclusive use of computer, telematic and information media and systems.
The purpose of this assistance is promote economic activityparticularly in rural areas struggling with depopulation, and strengthen regional talentsas well as attracting highly qualified professionals, with high incomes who come from abroad and who will therefore contribute to increasing consumption and generating value opportunities.
This aid, for which the Ministry of the Economy, Employment and Digital Transformation allocates a total of two million eurosare part of the digital transformation strategy of the government of María Guardiola, whose objective is to make the region a reference in digital transformation.
They are established two grant programsone for the attraction and establishment of digital nomads and another for digital nomads beneficiaries of Program I who remain registered and established in Extremadura for an additional period of 12 months, in addition to the mandatory retention period of 24 months established for program I.
The aid will be paid to partly cover the costs of the establishment of these people in the region during the periods in which they are obliged to remain registered there and will be more intense in the case of women, young people under 30 and people who register in cities under 5 000 inhabitants.
The aid will be 10,000 euros for women, young people and people registered in towns with less than 5,000 inhabitants.while for the rest of the workers the aid will be 8,000 euros.
This first help will increase by 5,000 and 4,000 eurosrespectively, if the remote professional activity continues for a third year.
Requests
Digital nomads who, residing outside Extremadura at the time of submitting the application, settle and register in a municipality in the territory of our region can be beneficiaries of this aid.
For the purposes of this decree, salaried workers and self-employed workers who carry out their work remotely and through the exclusive use of computer, telematics and information media and systems are considered digital nomads.
THE requestsaccompanied by the required documentation, will be processed electronically via the general electronic access point at www. jointex.es.
The validity period of this call for the purpose of submitting applications will be one year, starting tomorrow, Wednesday 9.
