Moreno expressed skepticism about the deadlines announced by the President of the Council, Emiliano García-Page, which, as he recalls, postponed the inauguration without explanation from this hospital for years.
“The residents of Cuenca have been waiting for a hospital for more than 15 yearsthat never happens, and the worst thing is that before opening its doors “It already needs renovations worth more than 641,000 euros”declared the leader of Vox.
As Vox reports in a press release, work on this health center began to take shape in 2009 and, since then, “more than 200 million euros have been invested in its construction.” However, the recent inclusion of new reforms – such as the need to create spaces for a sterilization unit and a kitchen unit, which were not envisaged in the initial project – demonstrates, according to Moreno, the lack of foresight in the management of this project. .
The president of the Vox parliamentary group also took advantage of his visit to recall “the serious problems facing the province of Cuenca in terms of health.” According to Moreno, citizens in rural areas suffer from long waiting lists, a shortage of doctors, a lack of medical transport and insufficient resources, while the regional government focuses on political issues and not on resolving utility issues.
“While Page is concerned with protecting the privileges of politicians, increasing the number of deputies and renewing official cars, health care in Cuenca continues to decline. There is a lack of medical personnel, there are not enough mobile intensive care units and the health budget is clearly insufficient to meet the needs of citizens,” Moreno concluded.
With this visit, David Moreno demands that the regional government prioritize health and guarantee that the residents of Cuenca can finally have a fully operational hospital and sufficient resources to care for the entire population.
