Irene Montero asked in the European Parliament that the borders be open to allow the entry of illegal immigrants and that they be welcomed with “hot food, water and blankets” because “we have a pact on migration and asylum which violates the human rights”.
The podemita, dressed in a Palestinian scarf, defended in a speech to the European Parliament that “a democratic Europe must have safe and legal pathways” for the entry of immigrants “because no one is illegal.”
“I haven’t seen anyone worried about foreign vultures hoarding property illegally and causing housing prices to skyrocket,” he said during his speech, accusing the rest of the MPs of directing “his hatred against the most vulnerable people and who most need the guarantee of their rights.
Likewise, he said that in Europe Frontex, the European Border and Coast Guard Agency, is financed, which, according to him, “criminalizes and persecutes other human rights.” For her, “the security problem in Europe is racists and racism, not people who migrate”.
Arrivals of illegal immigrants
It should be remembered that the arrival of irregular immigrants in Spain increased by 35% after the African tour carried out by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, at the end of August. Thus, according to official data from the Ministry of the Interior, illegal arrivals between August 31, 2024 and September 30 reached 7,775, or 2,015 more than the 5,760 recorded during the same period of the previous year. It is therefore a question of an increase of 34.9%.
Thus, the arrivals of irregular immigrants to Spain by sea and land (Peninsula, Canary Islands, Balearic Islands, Ceuta and Melilla) amounted to 42,2231 from January 1, 2023 to September 30. That is 7,775 more than those calculated since the start of this year until August 31.
These figures are well above the records of 2023, where from January 1 to September 30, 26,540 arrivals were recorded. As of August 31, 2023, the toll from the previous year was 21,780 irregular immigrants who reached Spanish territory.
