The Senate maintains the summit of anti-abortion policies with the votes of the PP

This Tuesday, the Popular Party used its absolute majority in the Senate to reject the PSOE’s call to protect itself against the transfer of a room next December to organize an ultra-summit against abortion. The Board of Directors rejected the request with four votes from the PP against three from the socialist senators, as EFE was informed by parliamentary sources.

The PSOE had presented an appeal for protection against the decision taken by the Table itself last July and which went unnoticed by the socialists, who accuse the popular of having “slipped” this request on the agenda. In any case, the decision involves giving the Network of Political Values, one of the most active actors in the international crusade against abortion or marriage equality, a room in the Senate for the celebration of its sixth Transatlantic Summit on December 2.

Besides the Socialists, other groups such as ERC, Bildu, Junts and BNG had also requested the suspension, which also registered letters of review in the Upper House. However, these were not analyzed by the Council, because according to parliamentary sources, there are no resources of this type for such a measure, but the only valid formula is that of protection.

The Network of Political Values announced its arrival in the capital through its website, in which its president, the far right José Antonio Kast, invites you to the event: “If you want to join your efforts with elected officials of more than 40 countries, you “We look forward to this great meeting with which we seek to influence the international political scene and mark a change of course in favor of freedom and the culture of life.”

The organization is one of the initiatives through which the conglomerate of actors who seek to overturn laws on abortion, sex education or LGBTI rights collaborate at the international level. He is part of the transnational community of ultras behind which hides “a carefully orchestrated strategy” against the promotion of rights, which has increased its activity in recent years and which already “produces concrete results”, details the latest Parliament report. European Union Forum on Sexual and Reproductive Rights (EPF), which mapped these organizations.
