Five months after the business daily’s editorial team placed its trust in Christophe Jakubyszyn (on a proposal from the supervisory board), the former editor-in-chief of BFM Business detailed the priorities he had presented to the editorial office in April and which he is now implementing. Or an editorial relaunch of the title, accompanied by a reorganization of the editorial team and the upcoming launch (in 2025) of a new service, the selection of fifteen articles published online every day in the late afternoon, called “18- 20”.

“I feel like I’m doing what the editors asked me to do”explains who he introduces himself as “the last adoptee of the family”. Convinced of “share the same vision of the world” that your team, that is, that, “To truly understand the world, you have to understand economics”Jakubyszyn assured that “inspired by what works elsewhere” to organize. Stated objective: continue to provide care to the main target audience “one step forward”just as the advertising campaign (the first since 2017) already announces it.

Attract a younger audience

For the editorial staff, this means that they continue to work in specific departments (France, World, Ideas, Business, High technology and media, etc.), but no longer thinking only about closing at night. This is now ” permanent “and entrusted to an editorial department divided into four transversal poles: “platform” (the production of information by the 200 journalists), “audience and commitment” (which determines the destination – newsletters, social networks, etc. – more effective ), “newspaper” (which guarantees the completion of the edition put online at 9:30 p.m. and available on newsstands in the morning) and “visual” (video, iconography, etc.). In just a few months, around forty people have seen their roles evolve, says Bérénice Lajouanie, director of the Les Echos and themes division.

“The subscriber of echoes pay enough to get what you pay forsummarized Jakubyszyn. Every time you come to read us, you must have a feeling of surprise. » The aim is to expand the weekend offering to satisfy readers’ demand for the “personal sphere”, both in the Friday edition and in the magazine. Les Echos weekendwhich will soon benefit from a new model. The diary will also see its evolution, as well as its railway (order of sections).
