The Minister of Justice, the Presidency and Relations with the Courts, Felix Bolanoscalled the general secretary of the PP, Cuca Gamarrain response to his message this morning on the bill which includes an amendment benefiting more than 40 ETA detainees.
The minister asked the number two of Alberto Nuñez Feijóo due to the “unexpected and sudden change of opinion of the PP”, according to sources from the Ministry of Justice reported to EL ESPAÑOL.
The Congress voted unanimously on September 18 – including the votes of the PP, Vox and the UPN – in favor of the bill, transposition of A European directive on the exchange of information on criminal records in the EU.
In the first version of the text, drafted by the Government, the amendment which caused huge controversy.
During the presentation, Sumar introduced a modification that, according to the interpretation of several legal experts, would allow dozens of ETA members to be released from prison earlier, including Txapotethe assassin of the councilor of Ermua (Bizcaya) Miguel Angel Blanco.
