For the first time since 2018, the IDF discovered a tunnel on the Lebanese border leading into Israeli territory. According to an army spokesman, the tunnel belonged to the terrorist organization Hezbollah and ran at a depth of about 10 meters from the Mafvin area in Lebanon to the vicinity of Moshav Zrait in northern Israel.
The tunnel was discovered several months ago as part of an operation to destroy terrorist infrastructure in southern Lebanon, and has since been under full control of the IDF to prevent possible terrorist attacks.
Special units of the Israeli army examined the tunnel and found weapons, explosive devices and anti-tank missiles there. The IDF also confirmed that no other tunnels crossing the border into Lebanon have been discovered at this time.
The tunnel crossed the so-called Blue Line, the agreed border between Israel and Lebanon, and did not reach Israeli populated areas. It was under construction and was blocked by a rock on the Israeli side.
The IDF estimates that its construction began approximately two years ago, and immediately after its discovery it was captured and recently neutralized.
Previously, Cursor reported that IDF fighters raised the Israeli flag over a Lebanese village.
The IDF took control of a settlement from where Hezbollah terrorists fired into our territory.
