The Israeli attack on Iran disabled the modern Russian air defense system.
This was reported by the Alexey Zheleznov Telegram channel.
The attack damaged the battery of the S-400, considered one of the most advanced Russian air defense systems.
According to Israeli assessments, Moscow may face problems supplying new S-400 systems to Iran, which could affect Tehran’s ability to strengthen its defenses amid rising tensions in the region.
The S-400 Triumph is a long-range Russian surface-to-air missile (SAM) system designed to destroy a variety of aerial targets, including aircraft, drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles. Developed by the Almaz-Antey company and put into service in 2007, the S-400 is considered one of the most advanced air defense systems in the world.
Key Features:
Range: up to 400 km for aerodynamic purposes and up to 60 km for ballistic missiles.
Damage height: from 5 meters to 30 km.
Missile Types: The system can use multiple types of missiles with different characteristics, allowing for flexible defense against different threats.
Capabilities and applications:
The S-400 is capable of simultaneously tracking and attacking up to 80 targets, selecting priority threats. The system is equipped with modern radar that allows it to detect and track stealth targets, making it a serious threat to many types of airborne equipment, including modern stealth aircraft.
Export and geopolitics:
Officially, the S-400 is supplied to several countries, including Türkiye, China and India. The export of the system caused controversial reactions, especially in NATO countries. For example, Turkey’s purchase of the S-400 led to tensions with the United States and the suspension of deliveries of F-35 fighters.
