Regarding the agreement that will be signed during the Iberian Summit, which will take place in the city of Faro, in the south of Portugal, Montenegro predicted that it would guarantee the conditions for the country to have “a water policy that values the environment “. and which reconciles all interests, those of agriculture, forests, tourism, supply for human consumption.
Montenegro and the head of the Spanish government, the socialist Pedro Sánchez, will co-chair the 35th Spanish-Portuguese summit, the first led by the two leaders since the Portuguese has been in power since last April. Water management will be the main subject of this meeting, where other bilateral issues such as infrastructure and international affairs, such as the war in the Middle East, will also be discussed.
At another point in the interview with SIC, Montenegro once again referred to Spain when discussing the need to attract international investment in Portugal given that its economy “is not sufficiently capitalized”. “I can say it without any disdain, we are even going to have an Iberian summit, of which today we have a very strong Spanish competition to try to attract, and I will say in quotation marks “steal”, investment intentions directed towards Portugal”, he indicated.
