Putin to meet with Lukashenko – EADaily, October 9, 2024 – Politics news, Russian news

Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko on Wednesday and present him with the Order of St. Andrew, the First Called Apostle.

Lukashenko arrived in Moscow on Monday afternoon to take part in the CIS summit and will extend his stay in the Russian capital to hold separate talks with Putin, an aide to the Russian president said earlier. Yuri Ushakov.

The presidents plan to discuss the development of strategic alliance and cooperation relations between Russia and Belarus with emphasis on integration interaction within the Union State, the Kremlin’s telegram channel reports.

After bilateral negotiations, a solemn ceremony will take place in the St. Andrew Hall of the Kremlin to present the President of Belarus with the highest state decoration of the Russian Federation – the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle the First-Called.

As Ushakov explained, the Belarusian leader was awarded this order for his outstanding services in developing relations of alliance and strategic partnership between the two countries, strengthening friendly ties between Russians and Belarusians, as well as for his great personal contribution to the creation and effective activities of the State of the Union. The decree granting Lukashenko was signed on August 30.

This meeting between Putin and Lukashenko will be the eighth in 2024.
