The CSIF-SPF denounces the situation in which the Forale Police mobile fleet finds itself

He CSIF-SPF union wants to denounce the situation in which the Foral Police fleet finds itself, which has vehicles that are several years old and have too many kilometers, which means a risk for the safety of the agents themselves and poor service to citizens in some cases.

Last Saturday, officers from the Estella police station were responding to an emergency call when they had to turn around, return to the police premises and change vehicle due to a defectwhich limited the car’s speed to 80 km/h.

This becomes a repeated failure of certain models available in different police stations and in which thousands of euros have already been invested, some with damage of more than €10,000.

Serving as an example of what we denounce the mobile fleet of the Estella police stationvehicles have on average more than 320,000 km and are 7 years old, a police station in which some cars can reach almost 430,000 km or 10 years.

It is possible that a private vehicle with 200,000 or 300,000 km could work quite well, but police vehicles run several times, leaving at least two shifts per day, covering many kilometers on the road (on some occasions you can do almost 300 km), responding to high speed warnings, being driven by different hands and with maintenance that is not the same as that of a private vehicle, which poses a risk to officers as well as, sometimes, poor service to citizensapart from a huge expense in breakdowns.

Some vehicles in the fleet have been renewed but their number is clearly insufficient. In Tudela, for example, the Certifications Unit only received one new vehicle, but on the other hand it a van with more than 500,000 km.

For a correct renewal of a police vehicle fleet, the optimum is for a vehicle to have an average lifespan of 4 years of service, which requires approximately 1.5 million euros annual investmentthe current budget allocated by the provincial government for the purchase of vehicles is €900,000.

From the CSIF – SPF we urge the Department of the Interior of the Government of Navarre and all the parliamentary groups, if they really want it The Foral Police is the reference Police in our Communitydemonstrate this support by including in the budgets currently being negotiated an increase in the amount allocated to the renewal of the vehicle fleet.
