He steals 800 euros in “scratch and win” from a blind seller in Vallecas and only wins 9.5

There are thieves who even have a certain ethics, as if they were Robin Hood; But there are others who, in addition to lacking a minimum of morality, can be heartless. These are the type of criminals who steal from an elderly person, a child or a disabled person. And this is what happened to a citizen of Spanish nationality: Julio BC, 41 years old, was arrested while collecting the meager prize he had won after stealing a good quantity of lottery tickets from a seller blind of ONCE.

The events occurred last Sunday in the Puente de Vallecas neighborhood. The Municipal Police received the notice from the victim. He said that around noon he was working at the National Organization of the Spanish Blind kiosk at 83 San Diego Avenue when he had to go to the bathroom.

“I left for 15 minutes to go to the toilet at a nearby bar. I left the stall perfectly closed, the window rolled down as far as possible and the kiosk door closed with its latch. But, when I returned, I realized that the window had been forced and then that the door was open,” he told the agents.

Someone had taken seven lottery tickets, specifically different types of lottery tickets known as “scratch and win”, which the seller valued at between 600 and 800 euros for their retail price, according to the data collected by ABC.

A patrol from the Puente de Vallecas district general police station was informed by their colleagues and, a quarter of an hour later, around 12:45 p.m., they located the suspect. It was located next to the Renfe Cercanías Assemble de Madrid station, just 600 meters from where the theft was committed. At that time, the individual collected seven winning coupons bearing the serial number and belonging to the same category as the “scratch and win” coupons stolen from the blind seller. There was no doubt that he was the thief.

Questioned by the municipal police, this is his defense argument: “I bought them from a fat bald man for 10 euros, he sold them in the street”. The kiosk where I was going to exchange them is located at the intersection of Puerto de Balbarán Street and Vizconde de Arlensson Street. The value of the prize “won” was 9.5 euros; That is to say, it was even less than he would have paid the “fat bald man” from whom he said he bought them. A version in which the actors did not believe at any time and which, if it were true, would have added an offense of reception, explain the sources consulted.

Upon his arrest, the alleged criminal had to be transferred beforehand to the Infanta Leonor Hospital, in Santa Eugenia (Villa de Vallecas), because he declared that he had to follow a medication regimen. For now, he faces a charge of robbery with force.
