Japanese government dissolved parliament – EADaily, October 9, 2024 – Politics News, Asian News

The Japanese government at its extraordinary meeting on Wednesday signed a decision on the dissolution of parliament, the Kyodo news agency reported.

The document was signed by all members of the cabinet. A debate between Japan’s prime minister is expected to take place later in parliament. Shigeru Ishiboi and heads of opposition parties. The debate will last 80 minutes instead of the required 45 minutes.

Subsequently, at a meeting of the lower house at 3:30 p.m. (9:30 a.m. Moscow time), its dissolution will be announced: the speaker of the chamber Fukushiro Nukaga will read what the Secretary General of the Government gave him Yoshimasa Hayashi dissolution decree.

The Government will then meet again, during which it will officially set the start of the electoral campaign on October 15 and the elections to the Lower House on October 27.

Shigeru Ishiba took over as prime minister on October 1 and formed a new government that same day. The eight-day period between the new prime minister’s inauguration and the dissolution of parliament is the shortest in the country’s post-war history.
