A group of people threw red paint at journalist Pilar Rahola on Tuesday evening before the columnist gave a conference in the municipality of La Garriga (Barcelona). According to the communist entity Horitzó Socialista, which published an image of the events, this action aims to denounce the “complicity with the genocide in Palestine” of Rahola, who described his attackers as “fascists”.
“I know what fascism is. My family suffered the violence of right and left fascism. They will never silence me. “I am a free citizen of a free country,” Rahola expressed with red paint.
“Today they didn’t succeed either, I stayed and gave the lecture. In the face of intolerance, speech is free,” explained the columnist, known for her defense of Israel in the war in Gaza and in the conflict in the Middle East.
