By 2030, the shortage of IT specialists in Russia will reach one million people

Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sberbank, German Gref, confirmed that today 75% of employers are confident that IT specialists must have skills in working with artificial intelligence. He also predicted an increase in personnel shortages in this area up to 1 million people by 2030, TASS reports today, October 9.

Gref’s opinion was expressed during the “Numbers Lesson” on artificial intelligence.

“We see that the demand for specialists in the field of artificial intelligence is growing at a tremendous rate in the labor market. We currently estimate the overall shortage of IT specialists until 2030 <> at approximately 1 million specialists in Russia. And it is most likely that the shortage will continue to increase, because this is probably the most in-demand specialty today.” – said the director of Sberbank.

Gref is sure that very soon the ability to work with AI will be the main criterion when selecting specialists in other areas: “Using artificial intelligence will, in fact, be the same skill as understanding the basics of nature, physics or the basics of language.”.
