Three businessmen who employed irregulars and made them work all week are arrested in Granada

The national police arrested Grenade three agricultural businessmen, two men aged 42 and 50 and a woman aged 47, alleged perpetrators of crimes linked to the economic exploitation of foreign citizens. The people surveyed operated farms where illegal immigrants in the country worked.

The police operation began last August, when police learned that several Spanish businessmen “They operated several agricultural farms in which they employed illegal foreign citizens and, due to their vulnerable situation, took advantage of the established working conditions to obtain great economic benefits.

The farms were located in the region of Alpujarrawhere officials of the National Police and the Labor inspection and Social Security carried out a joint operation. There, around fifteen foreign workers were identified who were carrying out their tasks without residence and work authorization.

Employees reported that their work schedules were an average of ten hours each day of the weekin exchange for which they received a salary that the police do not detail but which is in any case lower than that stipulated by the specific union agreements for the work they carried out.

This illicit activity provided employers with high profits since they were supposed to “not pay their workers the full stipulated salary” and they also did not contribute to social security for them.
