The Provincial Delegation of Cordoba will undertake two ambitious projects in the coming months investment plans in water infrastructure and waste management. The two total an investment amount of 32.7 million euros including 26.5 for improving water supply thanks to an agreement with Emproacsa, responsible for carrying out up to eight actions; and 5.2 million for the circular economy and waste project that Epremasa will carry out according to the same model with a total of four actions.
The president of the provincial institution, Salvador Fuenteswas responsible for detailing these plans which are activated by a credit modification which free up these economic resources. “What will be invested in this mandate has never been invested in water, only the Provincial Council“, and it is a very important effort”, said Fuentes, who added that the Provincial Delegation will comply with the new law on waste and the circular economy through the investment proposed for the provincial collection company waste.

“Public companies are capable of carrying out this work,” he underlined, within the framework of a management mandate formula signed by an agreement with the parent institution. “We will invest effectively in the present and in the future. It’s not flashy to invest in pipes, but it is very effective. “We are facing a structural problem,” he emphasized in his speech, accompanied by Deputy Treasury Delegate Ana Rosa Ruz and First Vice President and President of Epremas Andrés Lorite.
The call Córdoba Hydraulic Infrastructure Plan 2024 (PIHC) will begin with the change of fiber cement in the pipes and will be projected throughout the province. The actions of this plan endowed with 26.5 million go through a new Iznájar-Casilla del Monte pipeline (from the WWTP from the reservoir to the Los Prietos chimney), with 9.8 million euros. In a second phase, from Casilla del Monte to Los Prietos-CP 205, with an amount of 11.8 million (phase two). In 2023, 300 incidents were recorded in the pipes in this area.

In Martin Gonzalo (Montoro) the renovation of the high water supply network will take place (525,000 euros); the renewal of the water supply network in the South zone (575,000 euros), the repair of supply tanks in the municipalities (up to half a dozen) for 1.2 million and improvements in the treatment plants of the North and the South (respectively 980,000 euros and 795,000 euros).

About the call Cordoba Circular Economy Investment Plan (PIECC) 2024 Fuentes highlighted the implementation of the fifth container in all the municipalities it manages Epremasa and the expansion of the Montalbán complex for 3.5 million as a preparatory action for the large green pole and recycling project that the Provincial Delegation has raised thanks to European funds by the Government of Andalusia and valued at 17 million euros (but which includes actions for a total of 83 million) .
In total 5.2 million euros which “represents a budgetary and operational challenge and we will be a pioneer province in the implementation in all the municipalities of this fifth candidate”.
Other actions are also added in the compaction press and containers in the Montoro factory (650,000 euros), the acquisition of container covers (795,000 euros) and 255,000 euros for this fifth container.
Salvador Fuentes recalled that this mandate “we will continue the investments “hand in hand with the Junta de Andalucía, the Guadalquivir Hydrographic Confederation or European funds, by increasing our investments in these areas.” 500,000 euros will also be devoted to a asbestos removal program in public spaces in the province of Córdoba (especially schools and other establishments). A program which should be executed in three months.
