The Minister of Sustainable Development, Mercedes Gómez, asks “to establish which flows are likely to be transferred or not”, because Entrepeñas and Buendía are the only reservoirs in all of Spain that do not have this data.
THE Minister of Sustainable Development of Castile-La Mancha, Mercedes Gómezasked the central government to be “very careful” during Wednesday’s meeting of the Tajo-Segura Transfer Operations Commission and to transfer “the bare minimum” because the weather “is unfavorable” and forecasts indicate ‘”a dry year”.
This is how Gómez expressed himself this Wednesday in response to questions from the Toledo media, combining this request for caution with another of “request” to modify the rules of operation of the transfer.
The advisor insisted that “it is necessary to establish which flows are likely to be transferred or not”, because Entrepeñas and Buendía are the only reservoirs in all of Spain that do not have this data.. “And fundamentally we must respect the ecological flows of the Tagus,” he added.
“The Tagus must be a living river, it must have the capacity that nature has given it and without it, unfortunately, we will be condemned to complete and absolute ruin,” he warned.
This is why he insisted that “These minimum flows must also be respected” and for this “we must change the rule of exploitation”. “That is to say, there is no choice, we are faced with this situation and we are late,” he concluded.
