He Majorca Council presented this Wednesday the new Dissuasive parking planwhich will be located near the public transport stations of the cities of Mallorca, with a total of 7,171 places. It is about 43 parking spaces, 16 of which are municipal property and they will reform, while 27 are newly created. The planned investment is 30.9 million euros.
The island advisor for Territory, Mobility and Infrastructure, Fernando Rubiopresented the Plan, which will be approved this Thursday at the Council Plenary. Rubio was accompanied by the island director of MobilityRafael Oliverand the island director of Infrastructure, Rafel Gélabert.
The previous Plan, initially approved during the last legislature, had to be modified because no specific hearing had been granted to those affected by the expropriations. Taking advantage of this modification, The plan has been increased by five new parking spaceswhich means 1,230 additional places. Concretely, the new parking spaces added are located at Alcúdia, Manacor, Santa Maria, Santanyí-Cala Llombards and Sóller.
The Dissuasive Parking Plan ranges from an initial investment of 25.3 million to 30.9 million. The locations have also been agreed with the 43 town halls which will have parking lots in their municipality.
Fernando Rubio explained the changes introduced in the Dissuasive Parking Plan: “With this Plan we have proposed improve road mobility in Mallorca and encourage the use of public transport. The car parks will be located near the bus and train stations, so that users can leave their vehicles and use public transport. “We have increased the previous plan with five new parking spaces and the location of four others has been changed, to facilitate connections with public transport.”
Rubio also added that in all parking lots there will be charging points for electric vehicles.
