Petr Alferov, director of the fraud management operator Beeline, spoke about a new method of telephone fraud in Russia. Now criminals send messages with information about an attempt to log into a State Services account, after which the victims themselves call them. TASS reports this today, October 9.
According to Alferov, the legend in SMS messages is usually standard: someone allegedly tried to log into the account on the citizen’s State Services website. The message also contains a number to call urgently.
“Now our clients began to complain that they began to receive not calls, but SMS messages in which it was written that there was an attempt to enter the State Services, it was necessary to change the password and a phone number was indicated. And it turns out that the victim of the fraud now calls the scammer at this phone number via SMS.” – said a representative of Beeline.
Consequently, scammers’ numbers are blocked after confirming the information.
