Fine of 90,000 euros for a person for renting three tents in an illegal camp in Ibiza, more precisely in the coastal town of Sant Josep. As reported by the city council JosepiAfter the inspection carried out last Tuesday, the officers observed how a couple had left the area with suitcases and, when questioned, they explained that they had spent the night after passing a Book through a well-known real estate platform.
After gathering the evidence, local police began an investigation which resulted in the identification and subsequent reporting of the complaints to the offender. Concretely, it is about four penalties for carrying out an activity without a permit, without compulsory insurance and without the registrations required to carry out the activity, as well as for camping in a prohibited area.
During the inspection, carried out in collaboration with the Civil Guard, the Police counted 154 unsanitary housing units, including one 56% were tents and the rest barrackswith a total of 206 beds. Three of the occupants of the neighborhood are minors and are under surveillance by social services. Eight people said they did not have a job.
The police also observed that some unsanitary housing is apparently abandoned and the environment is increasingly dirty and degraded. The degradation of the space in recent years is more evident, reaching a point where it is difficult to work on the ground due to unsanitary conditions.
The Town Hall of Sant Josep announced that it will now report any illegal camping, regardless of its location, and that the sanction will affect those who carry out the camping action, if it is on private land, as well as the owners who he authorizes. However, no exact date has been set for the eviction, although police inspections will be moved to other small localities in the municipality, such as Cala Tarida or es Cubells.
The mayor, Vincent Roig, regretted having reached a point where “certain limits have been crossed which cannot be allowed.”
