The new sanctions regime against Russia, approved by the EU Council, is illegitimate. This was stated in a briefing by the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova.
“This is another illegitimate sanctions regime from the point of view of international law; “It is directed against Russian individuals and legal entities that are allegedly responsible for destabilizing actions abroad.” — noted the diplomat, reports TASS.
According to Zakharova, the West no longer needs any reason to impose sanctions.
“We also know and have been talking about this for quite some time that Brussels has long lost political independence in its policies and in its sanctions policy, even acting in the wake of Washington. “The significantly expanded list of grounds for imposing sanctions against Russia is increasingly reminiscent and similar to the regime that the Americans introduced in April 2021.” – he pointed out.
“Basically, a new regime has been created whereby European officials are trying to hold Russia accountable for all the problems they couldn’t solve on their own.” – added the representative of the Russian diplomatic department.
