Israeli detained in Lebanon – media details

The Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar, associated with Hezbollah, reported on the arrest of Israeli Yehoshua (Shuki) Tartakovsky in the Dahiya district, located in the south of Beirut.

Tartakovsky, a former ultra-Orthodox from Jerusalem, graduated from Brown University and the London School of Economics. The arrest occurred on October 8, when he arrived in Lebanon about two weeks ago under the pretext of working as an “investigative journalist.” The publication mentions that he had an Israeli passport with him, although he entered the country with a British passport.

According to Israeli media, this is not the first time Tartakovsky has been in Beirut, as evidenced by his social media accounts.

Earlier, Kursor reported that IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari reported airstrikes against Hezbollah targets in the same area.

He recalled that a year ago, the terrorist group Hezbollah attacked Israel without provocation, firing more than 12,000 rockets and drones, forcing some 60,000 people to flee their homes. Hagari highlighted that Hezbollah hides its weapons in civilian areas, which poses a threat to civilians.

Furthermore, the spokesperson clarified that before each attack against Hezbollah targets, the IDF warns residents of the buildings where their weapons are located, stating that the Israeli army’s goal is to protect civilians and avoid surprises.

In recent weeks, the IDF has carried out successful operations against Hezbollah in Dahiya, destroying not only its missile arsenals but also important facilities of the group. He added that Dahiya is not just an area of Beirut, it is a key Hezbollah stronghold, and the job of the Israeli army is to eliminate the threat to Israelis.
