The state trading company Aguas de las Cuencas de España (Acuaes), of the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, has launched a call for tenders for the contract of technical assistance services for the preparation of the study of alternatives, environmental study and drafting of the construction project for the wastewater treatment plant from La Puebla de Almoradiel, in the province of Toledo.
The base tender budget for the contract is 347,931 euros and the duration is 9 months.
At its meeting on July 26, the Acuaes Board of Directors gave its approval to the tender for this contract, which had to await authorization from the ministry for its tender.
The municipality of La Puebla de Almoradiel, located in the zone of influence of Las Tablas de Daimiel, lack of an adequate purification system to treat its wastewater, which is discharged into a green filter which does not reach the discharge parameters required by regulations.
The purpose of the contract is to define the works and installations necessary to, on the one hand, allow the complete treatment of wastewater discharges produced with the degree of dilution necessary to respect the limits set for their incorporation into the receiving canal ( notably the rejection of nutrients due to the effects that these contaminants can have on the aquifer 23 and on the Daimiel Tables) and, on the other hand, mitigate the degree of pollution released into the river bed as a result of the first waters which fall with each episode of rain.
The work envisaged in this action will consist of the construction of an effective purification system and, where appropriate, the adaptation and resolution of the problems of insufficiency and current non-existence of the sanitation network, including the elements necessary regulation systems (rain tank) for the storage of the first rainwater, with the dimensioning defined by the river basin organization, and the outfalls or interceptors necessary for the integration of the municipal sanitation network.
Concretely, for the purification process it is planned to run a system that includes the treatment of nutrients (nitrogen and phosphorus). All WWTP installations necessary for the treatment and management of the sludge produced will also be defined.
Furthermore, in accordance with the future new directive on the treatment of urban wastewater, since it is a treatment plant which will serve more than 10,000 residents equivalents with discharge in sensitive areas, it will be mandatory to have quaternary treatment to reduce the spread of emerging contaminants and to have a renewable energy installation that provides at least 70% of the total energy consumption of the facility.
The performance is likely to be co-financed with ERDF funds of the European Union 2021-2027, within the framework of the multiregional operational program of Spain.
These works are included within the framework of the project “Improvement of sanitation and purification of the municipalities of Las Tablas de Daimiel”, declared of general interest of the State, within the framework of which Acuaes has created the water treatment plants. purification of Consuegra and Villafranca de los Caballeros, which are already in operation, and those of Quintanar de la Orden and Madridejos, currently in an advanced state of execution.
Acuaes has also developed the construction projects for the Urda, Camuñas and La Villa de Don Fadrique wastewater treatment plants, the execution of which is awaiting the signing of the corresponding collaboration agreements with the respective municipalities which are considering the financing conditions , execution and operation of the works. Acuaes sent the agreements to the last two town halls several months ago, without having received a response until now.
In total, once all the works are completed, Acuaes will have invested approximately 47 million euros in the elimination of polluting discharges that reach the Tablas de Daimiel National Park.
