A meeting was held between Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed.

It was reported that during the meeting the current state and prospects of relations between Azerbaijan and the UN, the preparatory processes related to the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Climate (COP29), the priorities of the COP29 presidency of Azerbaijan. discussed.
Drawing attention to the importance of Azerbaijan’s role in multilateral diplomacy, as well as in UN institutions, the UN Deputy Secretary General praised the activities carried out by our country in the direction of organizing COP29. Furthermore, the importance of the final document adopted during the Future Summit was emphasized, which includes elements such as peace and security, new technologies and the financial architecture of the future.
Subsequently, the parties reviewed the achievements of our country in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and noted with satisfaction the important progress in this work.
J. Bayramov provided detailed information on the process of negotiations carried out within the framework of COP29, chaired by Azerbaijan, and highlighted the importance of consensus for the determination of a new quantitative financial target to cover the financial resources necessary in the fight against climate change. The parties highlighted the importance of the support of the UN and international financial institutions in this direction. At the same time, support was reported for 14 initiatives proposed by the COP29 presidency in various directions.
Other topics of mutual interest were also discussed at the meeting.
