Juan Piedre, one of the ETA victims Tellado showed to Congress, was murdered by a terrorist freed by Aznar

One of the ETA victims that the PP spokesperson in Congress, Miguel Tellado, showed to the display photos of socialist leaders murdered by ETA and used against the government, is Juan Priede.

The current leader of the Basque socialists, Eneko Andueza, recalled something this Wednesday: his assassin was in the street because he was released from prison while José María Aznar was in La Moncloa.

The socialist councilor of Orio, Biscay, Juan Priede, was assassinated with three bullets in the neck by Iñaki Bilbao, member of ETA, on March 21, 2002.

Bilbao was not its first participation. He had already been in prison for various terrorist crimes. In December 1997, five months after the assassination of Miguel Ángel Blanco by ETA, Aznar’s government brought him from Tenerife to Almería, thus justifying his “positive development”.

And three years later, in September 2000with Aznar still as president, was released. Just a year and a half after his release, Iñaki Bilbao assassinated Juan Priede, the only PSOE advisor in Orio.

For this murder, the ETA member was arrested months later and sentenced to 52 years in prison. This Wednesday, the general secretary of the Basque socialists recalled his assassination and regretted the use of ETA victims by the PP. Eneko Andueza calls it an “embarrassing spectacle.”
