The Ministry of Health has detected an outbreak of hepatitis A in the town of Santa Eulària in Ibiza where, at present, there are said to be a total of 16 people diagnosed. All infected adults are said to have some type of relationship with the minors concerned.
The General Directorate of Public Health already vaccination has started students in the relevant classes of educational centers, as well as adults who live with them and teachers, provided that all these people have not been previously vaccinated against the hepatitis A virus, as established in the Surveillance Protocol Health of Hepatitis A. .
According to the government, more than thirty people have been vaccinated and in the coming days the vaccination of close contacts will continue, reports Europa Press.
The first investigations point to a mother-child epidemiological relationship In certain cases, there is already possible transmission through close contact between the minors concerned since all of them would attend or have links with two local educational centers.
These possible epidemiological relationships are common to all cases detected so far, both in minors and adults.
After the first notifications, the General Directorate of Public Health contacted the educational centers where the infant cases were registered so that they adopt the relevant measures to avoid the possibility of new infections, especially among those most vulnerable to hepatitis. HAS.
Among other measures, Public Health urged educational centers to take extreme hygiene measures, particularly in toilets and dining rooms. He also urged school labor prevention services to carry out individual assessments of workers linked to these cases.
Likewise, an epidemiological alert was sent to all health centers in Ibiza, both public and private, so that they are alerted and urgently notify any new diagnosis, alert which has also been transferred to the laboratories of the island so that they can promptly notify any cases diagnosed since the beginning of the year and from now on.
