Ratan Tata, former chairman of India’s largest industrial conglomerate, dies at 86

Indian tycoon Ratan Tata, former chairman of the Tata group which developed the largest Indian conglomerate across the world, died this Wednesday at the age of 86, as confirmed by the Tata group in a press release.

Tata, who led the Tata Group for more than two decades, died in a Mumbai hospital where he was receiving intensive care, according to Reuters.

“It is with a deep sense of loss that we bid farewell to Ratan Naval Tata, a truly extraordinary leader whose immeasurable contributions have shaped not only the Tata Group but also the very fabric of our nation,” the company said.
