Municipal elections will not be held in Azerbaijan in 2024.
According to the information provided to “Informe” by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), the institution’s meeting is not scheduled for today.
According to article 213 of the Electoral Code, unlike other elections, the CCA determines municipal elections:
“Article 213. Designation of municipal elections
213.1. Municipal elections are determined by the Central Electoral Commission in accordance with articles 211.1 and 211.2 of this Code.
The previous municipal elections were held on December 23.
According to Article 8 of the Electoral Code, elections in Azerbaijan are officially published at least 60 days before voting day:
“Article 8. Designation period for elections (referendum)
8.1. The decision (order) on calling elections (referendum) is officially published at least 60 days before voting day.
The institution indicated that counting the remaining calendar days until the end of 2024, the next elections will be announced in 2025.
