It has been 25 years since one of the crimes that most shocked Spanish society, the murder of Rocío Wanninkhof. From the first moment, the main suspect was Dolores Vazqueza family friend, who was convicted by a popular jury, thus committing one of the greatest miscarriages of justice in our country. Vázquez was the victim of a poor police investigation and the terrible prejudices of the time. He spent more than 500 days in prison.

Four years later, when Tony King was arrested for raping and killing Sonia Carabantes and it was proven that he was also the murderer of Rocío, Dolores had to deny that she was his accomplice: “Enough, I didn’t kill Rocío. I’m tired of repeating it. I don’t know this man at all, I only know that I was lynched once and scared to death to start again,” he said.
To date, Dolores Vázquez has received neither forgiveness nor no compensation for his 17 months in prison.
