Minsk criticized the Baltic countries for sanctions against Belarus

The sanctions of Lithuania and Latvia against Belarus cannot be explained in any way. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Maxim Ryzhenkov.

“Unfortunately, our closest neighbors, Lithuania and Latvia, are way ahead of the European Union sanctions and taking draconian measures against our country and our citizens, which cannot be explained in any way. “If they really cared about their citizens, about their countries, then, like Hungary, they would also work on what unites us and what gives us a basis for interaction, and would not destroy what we have.” – said.

According to him, the EU countries neighboring Belarus are trying to be “holier than the Pope, more “democratic” than the entire European Union.”

Recall that Belarus has been under sanctions from Western countries since 2020. Lithuania and Latvia were among the first to introduce restrictions against their southern neighbor. Minsk has repeatedly asked Riga and Vilnius to abandon the sanctions policy, but there was no response.
