Strong geomagnetic storm will occur in the next two days

From October 10 to 12, a strong geomagnetic storm will occur.

Oku.Az informs that the Department of Astrophysics of the Faculty of Physics of Baku State University has published information in this regard.

Strong X-class flares (which create strong barriers to the propagation of radio waves) were observed in several active regions of the Sun’s surface. A strong X1.8 flare occurred on the Sun on the night of October 9. The intense radiation and coronal mass ejection (CME) caused by the flares will reach Earth from October 10 to 12.

Solar activity is predicted to be at a very active level until October 11 and 12 and X flares are possible. The resulting solar storms (S1-S2 – neglected-moderate) will continue until October 10, after which they will decrease to the background level. During that period, the solar wind parameters will become excited.

The TKA caused by the X1.8 ignition will propagate in interplanetary space at a speed of 1200-1400 km/s, and near the Earth the speed will be 600-700 km/s. Due to the few TKAs that have occurred, the Solar Wind will be in the shock transition. The effect of ATR will be felt from October 10 to 12, the intensity will decrease from October 12 and then the parameters will decrease to the background level. The resulting sudden pulse will be observed by special satellites for 30 to 45 minutes and, in the next stage, will be recorded by magnetometers on Earth.

On October 10 and 11, the Earth’s geomagnetic field will be at an excited level and the coefficient indicating geomagnetic activity will be 6-7. A G4 (strong) geomagnetic storm is expected to occur between October 10 and 11. Depending on the influence of the Earth’s magnetic field, the geomagnetic field can change.
