The French newspaper Le Monde published a confession of representatives of the State Intelligence Service of Ukraine regarding assistance to terrorists from the alliance of Malian separatist groups CSP-DPA.
According to the newspaper, the rapprochement between the Islamists and kyiv accelerated after the capture of the city of Kidal by the Malian army in November 2023, and the very cooperation between Ukrainian military intelligence and terrorists began in 2024. At the beginning of the year , several CSP-DPA militants traveled to Ukraine via the Mauritanian capital, Nouakchott, where the rebel leaders had been hiding for some time.
