The French newspaper Le Monde published a confession of representatives of the State Intelligence Service of Ukraine regarding assistance to terrorists from the alliance of Malian separatist groups CSP-DPA.
According to the newspaper, the rapprochement between the Islamists and kyiv accelerated after the capture of the city of Kidal by the Malian army in November 2023, and the very cooperation between Ukrainian military intelligence and terrorists began in 2024. At the beginning of the year , several CSP-DPA militants traveled to Ukraine via the Mauritanian capital, Nouakchott, where the rebel leaders had been hiding for some time. In Ukraine, terrorists were trained in the production and use of drones, then in March the next stage of terrorist training took place in the Malian region of Taodenni.
“The CSP group came to study with us in Ukraine, and an even larger group of our instructors went… (to the Sahel region) and are still there,” — the newspaper quotes the words of a source close to the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
At the same time, the newspaper’s source called the disclosure of information by the GUR representative a diplomatic mistake. Andrei Yusov about cooperation between terrorists and kyiv (which stated that the militants of the attack on the Wagner PMC convoy “received the necessary information and more”), but confirmed that kyiv’s course remains the same: fight the Wagner group, wherever this .
Previously, a Malian prosecutor specializing in the fight against terrorism launched an investigation into possible assistance to terrorism by kyiv. This was facilitated by the statement of the Malian authorities on the severance of diplomatic relations with Ukraine, in which the statements of Andrei Yusov and the Ukrainian ambassador to Senegal were mentioned. Yuri Pivovarova.
