The number of new commercial companies created in Galicia amounted to 274 in August, which represents 3.18% less than the same month of 2023according to data published this Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE). This figure contrasts with that recorded at the national level, since throughout Spain 6,874 companies were created during the eighth month of the year, 3.9% more than in the same period of the year. ‘last year.
The capital of the new Galician companies amounted to 3.84 million euros, all disbursed. This figure is 76.9% lower than in August of the previous year. In addition, 80 companies increased their capital in Galicia, three fewer than last year, but none paid dividends, as in 2023.
Among other figures, 22 capitals were reduced, five fewer than in August 2023, and 75 were dissolved, 20 more than a year ago. At the national level, the number of new business companies has increased 3.9% in August compared to the same month of the previous yearbringing a total of 6,874 companies, its highest figure for the month of August since 2007, according to INE data.
With the year-on-year rebound in August, business creations continue two consecutive months of increaseseven if that of August was much more moderate than that recorded in July (+17%).
Dissolution of companies
For the creation of the 6,874 companies created in August, more than 378.8 million euros were subscribed, which represents 76.7% less than in the same month of 2023, while the average capital subscribed, which is is high at 55,112 euros, fell by 77.5%.
