3.1 million euros in aid to remove asbestos from San Pascual and Orcasitas

Remove asbestos and improve the accessibility, conservation and energy efficiency of residential buildings in vulnerable neighborhoods such as Meseta and Poblado Dirigido de Orcasitas and San Pascual. These are the objectives of the Transform your neighborhood 2024 Plan, a program promoted by Madrid City Council which will invest 3.1 million euros to renovate all residential buildings in these areas built before 1998. This additional aid for Rehabilitation can be requested until February 28.

“The particular socio-economic vulnerability of these areas, added to the poor state of construction of their buildings, requires complementary and continuous intervention,” they explain from the Housing sector.

The largest budget item is dedicated to the San Pascual district, which at 1,800,000 euros invest in replacing asbestos with other materials, both in facades and in installations and other common elements of buildings.

To eliminate dangerous asbestos from apartment buildings on the Orcasitas Plateau, the municipality will invest 800,000 euros. In this enclave, moreover, aid aims to improve accessibility.

The last line of subsidies is intended for the Realized Village of Orcasitas, which will have 500,000 euros to improve energy efficiency and common elements of buildings for the conservation of the envelope.

In advance

The beneficiaries of this aid will be communities of owners, associations or other groups of residents of residential buildings; sole owners of single-family homes; cooperative societies of owners which generate and distribute energy services intended mainly for the individual or collective self-consumption of the neighborhood community.

In addition to having been built before 1998, eligible buildings must have at least 70% of its constructed area above ground intended for residential use and have the building evaluation report prior to the request for the corresponding aid. Single-family houses isolated or grouped together in a row can benefit from this program provided that the actions to be carried out are not inside the home, with the exception of energy efficiency. Help will always be delivered in advance and for the full amount that the beneficiary obtained.
