Israelis detained in Beirut wanted to reveal IDF secrets – media

The Abu Ali Express Telegram channel, citing Lebanese sources, reports that Yehoshua (Shuki) Tartakovsky, a citizen of Israel, the United States and Great Britain, after being detained in Beirut, asked to be taken to the office of the terrorist group Hezbollah in Dahiya.

According to sources, Tartakovsky announced his willingness to reveal “IDF tactics” and highlighted his support for the “resistance in Lebanon and Palestine”, and also announced his left-wing political views and his opposition to the Israeli government.

In this regard, the Lebanese military prosecutor decided to deport him from the country, according to Abu Ali Express.

Previously, Ynet reported that Tartakovsky was expelled from Lebanon following intervention by US authorities.

In turn, on October 9, the Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar, associated with Hezbollah, reported on Tartakovsky’s arrest in Dahiya. He was arrested on October 8 after arriving in Beirut as an “investigative journalist” about two weeks ago. He had an Israeli passport with him, although he entered the country with a British passport.

According to Israeli media, this is not the first time that Tartakovsky visits Beirut, as evidenced by his social media accounts. Yehoshua Tartakovsky is a freelance journalist and graduate of Brown University and the London School of Economics, where he studied international relations. He has lived in several countries, including Latin America, the United States, Europe and the Middle East, and has also worked for international organizations such as Transparency International and the OSCE.

His acquaintances describe Tartakovsky as an “intelligent but unstable” person and are sure that he has nothing to do with the intelligence services.

Previously, Kursor reported that the US plan to weaken Hezbollah was received ambiguously in Qatar and Egypt.
