A mysterious place in the Caspian Sea: NARGİN, known as “Hell Island”.

Nargin Island, located in the heart of the Caspian Sea, in the south of the Absheron Peninsula, is one of the most mysterious and bloody islands in Azerbaijan. Located just 10.5 km off the coast of Baku, this island is also known as Big Zira Island with an area of 1.4 km².

Nargin Island has witnessed many important events over the centuries.

Nargin Island, which is 3.1 kilometers long and 900 meters wide, was once known as “Hell Island” or “Snake Island.”

The island’s bloodiest days occurred at the beginning of the 20th century. During World War I, Nargin became a prisoner of war camp and was a place of exile for defeated and captured soldiers and officers.
