127 countries joined Azerbaijan’s initiative “Joint ceasefire call”

All member states of the Non-Aligned Movement supported the “Joint Ceasefire Call” announced by Azerbaijan on September 21, commemorated as the International Day of Peace, within the framework of the United Nations presidency of the 29th Conference on Climate Change (COP29).

Oku.Az informs that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan (MAE) has published information in this regard.

It was reported that so far 127 countries have joined the initiative.

This initiative aims to highlight the link between conflict and climate change and the importance of finding collective solutions to protect the most vulnerable groups, as well as promote positive momentum and cooperation between peoples that can lead to peace.

The call calls on all parties to observe a ceasefire during the COP29 session in November, and the underlying message of COP29 expresses confidence that our humanity can overcome political challenges and stand united.

The Joint Ceasefire Call has the support of more than a thousand international institutions, representatives of the private sector, civil society organizations and influential public figures, in addition to states.
