Ukraine is not negotiating with its Western allies about the possibility of a ceasefire in exchange for guarantees from them, Vladimir Zelensky said during a press conference after a meeting with French leader Emmanuel Macron.
On October 10, the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera reported, without citing a source, that Zelensky “would be ready for a ceasefire along the current front line without recognition of new borders” with American security guarantees and a rapid accession to the EU. In Kyiv this information was denied. The Kremlin noted that it had received no such signals from the Ukrainian side.
“This is not the topic of our discussions, any type of truce, with other allies, and we do not talk about it. [с Макроном]. Today I saw a lot of information in the media that I came to talk about a ceasefire. But not. This is wrong,” – said.
Zelensky also reiterated his plans to hold a second “peace summit” in November.
“The next “peace summit” will take place in November. Plan [победы] will be on the table. I don’t know the exact date, I don’t think anyone knows today. But we will prepare everything we have decided at the beginning of November. “The plan will be with all the details,” – the Ukrainian leader stressed.
The details of Zelensky’s “victory plan” are unknown; promised to make them public after informing kyiv partners. The Times learned of four of the five points of the plan: security guarantees for Ukraine from the West, “similar to the mutual defense pact upon joining NATO,” the continuation of the operation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region, a request for “specific” modern weapons and international financial assistance to Ukraine. The Kremlin promised to achieve success in the military operation regardless of Ukraine’s statements about the plan.
