The resigning Minister of Public Accounts, Thomas Cazenave, said on Saturday, August 31, in an interview with Parisian, that the deadlines for preparing the state budget would be respected. He also confirmed that this year’s revenues were worse than expected.
As the deadlines for preparing the state budget become increasingly tight, MPs have threatened to launch investigations themselves at Bercy if certain documents are not communicated to them by Monday.
« Éric Coquerel and Charles de Courson [rapporteur général du budget, groupe Liot] We were asked for elements by September 2 in a letter received this summer and they will have them”Mr. Cazenave assured. “I had the opportunity to tell them and, without waiting for that deadline, they received the first elements in mid-August with the detailed amount of the credits placed in reserve. Parliament is informed at every stage”the resigned minister defended himself once again.
Thomas Cazenave also confirmed that, by 2024, “In certain areas, collections are, at this stage, a little below what we expected”He attributes this in particular to “new expenditure that was not foreseen, in particular for support to New Caledonia” already “the sharp increase in local authority spending”.
The draft Finance Bill (PLF) must be submitted to Parliament by 1 October and voted on and published by 1 January.
