Thousands of students take to the streets to demand answers on the new selectivity

High school students from all over Spain mobilized this Friday against the new University Access Test (PAU)to demand that the new examination models be known and against the police accusations that occurred in Murcia during which there were detonations by the riot police.

The mobilizations to which ESO, Baccalaureate and FP students are called arise after having experienced the examination models and correction and evaluation criteria which will be carried out by the communities governed by the PP. And although only the specifications of the PAU of Cantabria and Castile and León have been published, the line that the rest of the PP autonomies will follow will be the same. Valencia and Andalusia will publish the specifications on the different subjects in the coming hours, while other communities such as La Rioja or Murcia will announce their matrices in the coming weeks.

30 student concentrations

However, although most of the criteria for the new selectivity are already known, the Students’ Union has called 30 concentrations to protest student uncertainty and lack of investment in public education. They criticize the delay in publishing the exam models for the new selectivity and will also show their “solidarity” with the students of Murcia who “suffered police brutality” during a demonstration in which fifty riot police carried out detonations to stop the objects. that the students launched.

The “Common Draft” of the PP The communities governed by the PP as well as their universities have begun to publish the common criteria of the new selectivity. And these are the most important aspects:

  • THE appointment The ordinary convocation will take place on June 3, 4 and 5, while the extraordinary convocation will take place on July 1, 2 and 3.
  • Spelling mistakes: In Spanish Language and Literature II, the maximum penalty will be two points, although it will only start counting from the second offense, with 0.25 points. In other subjects, the penalty will start to be counted from the third spelling mistake and will be 0.10 points. Grammatical errors or inconsistencies will be reduced by a maximum of 1 point.
  • Topics if necessary multiple choice questions They will not exceed 30% of the entire exam.
  • THE duration exercises will last 90 minutes.
  • There will only be one exam per subject, but there are established rules many options to choose from. In some cases, between different periods or stages, as is the case in the history of philosophy, where the commentary on the text and the questions will be chosen from different philosophical eras.
  • Another example is the eSpanish History Examwhich will have three parts: In the first there will be four blocks: the first to choose a short subject between two, the second to define concepts, the third to explain the similarities and differences between events or characters from different periods, and the fourth arranges historical facts in chronological order. The second part will be to comment on a historical source and you will be able to choose between an image or a text. In the third part, a theme will also be developed to choose between two options.
  • In General SciencesThe exercise will consist of four sections with a compulsory question or task, and each of them will be worth 2.5 points. No specific questions or tasks from the first “Building Science” block will be asked.
  • In Spanish Language and Literature II The exercise will include six questions or tasks: five language questions referring to a text and problems of sentence analysis and syntax and one literature question. The commentary on the literary text will come from the last block studied “Literary Education”.
  • In Mathematics II The exam will consist of four sections and may include the option to choose between multiple questions or tasks. If all questions are answered, only the one that appears physically first will be corrected.
  • The use of calculators which are not programmable and the loan of calculators between students will not be authorized.
  • THE errors committed, for example, in the calculation of a value will not be taken into account in the qualification of subsequent developments which may be affected if they are of equal complexity, but errors in elementary operations will be penalized by a maximum by 0.25 points.
  • In Mathematics applied to social sciences II There will be three sections and some may include the option to choose between multiple questions.
