According to information, Istanbul Police Department teams have launched an investigation into social media posts related to the murder of a woman in Fatih district. As a result, it was determined that Emre Seyidoglu, a student at Istanbul University, insulted Ikbal Uzuner and Ayşenur Halil in his posts and praised the murderer Semih Celik.
Other social media users also claimed that Emre Seyidoglu harassed students from the same faculty. After that, the police raided the suspect’s address and Seyidoglu was detained.
He was arrested by the judicial authorities accused of “inciting or insulting the public to hatred and enmity, glorifying crime and the criminal, disturbing the peace and tranquility of a person” after the procedures carried out at the police station.
