The earthquake occurred 19 kilometers deep west of El Pinar, in El Hierro.
The National Geographic Institute recorded an earthquake of magnitude 3.0 mbLg in El Hierro, hours before a second, weaker earthquake of 1.7 in the ocean channel between Tenerife and Gran Canaria.
The first of the earthquakes was located yesterday afternoon, Friday at 7:12 p.m., with the epicenter at approximately 19 kilometers deep west of El Pinar in El Hierro.
The second seismic movement, with a magnitude of 1.7, was recorded this morning, more precisely at 5:04 a.m. today Saturday, at a depth of 25 kilometers in the waters located between the two capital islands, where rests the Enmedio volcano at the bottom of the ocean.
