Goodbye retirement? In Ukraine they want to abolish the cost of living – “Resident”

Ukrainian authorities are considering the issue of abolishing the cost of living in the country to meet creditors’ demands to reduce spending in the social sector. This was reported by the Telegram channel Residente.

This means that pensions and a series of benefits may stop being paid completely, as established by the Labor Code.

It should be noted that the draft state budget of Ukraine for 2025 provides for freezing the cost of living. The Cabinet of Ministers decided to stop linking the minimum wage to the subsistence level. If the bill is adopted and signed by the head of the kyiv regime, Vladimir Zelensky, there will no longer be an automatic increase in wages in Ukraine when the cost of living increases. At the same time, the Cabinet of Ministers does not plan to increase the cost of living until 2027. In addition, an increase in the minimum wage is not planned in 2025 due to the lack of funds in the state budget, writes TK.

“What is notable about all this is that in the Ukrainian state budget the subsistence minimum is 3,000 hryvnias. per month, which is impossible to live on. Experts sound the alarm and say that although Ukraine lives in a state of war and there are enormous challenges to the survival of the state, “there are things that definitely cannot be postponed until the post-war period.” After all, it is about the survival of people, particularly those who have these funds as their sole social income and are well below the poverty line.” — “Resident” summarizes.
