The PSOE, Nos Movemos por Toro and Futuro have agreed on a motion of censure which will strip the Popular Party of Toro City Hallin the province of Zamora, where the “popular” Rafael González has governed in a minority since the elections of May 2023, with four councilors out of the thirteen who make up the Plenary.
The motion of censure will be signed by seven advisors: three of the four councilors of the PSOE (since Vicenta Gil-Negrete is not signed, according to various local Zamoran media), the three of Nos Movemos por Toro (which is the localist formation of the former mayor Tomás del Bien), and the Future Advisor.
This motion had been planned like a ghost by Toro City Hall since the formation of the plenary session which followed the last municipal elections. The agreement between the PSOE and Nos Movemos por Toro has been taken for granted on several occasions, but has now crystallized. The agreement will possibly be presented this Monday at the socialist headquarters of Toro.
The secretary general of the PSOE in Zamora, Antidio Fagúndez, assured that they had been working for “several months” to “reverse the situation of political paralysis in which Toro finds itself” and defended that the motion of censure “expresses the will of the citizens of Toro during the electionswho wanted a progressive government.
Fagúndez insisted that the motion “aims to generate change” and, for the moment, has not confirmed that the candidate will be the socialist Carlos Rodríguez, leader of Toro’s PSOE and second most voted party in the elections of May 2023. , behind the PP.
