American rapper Fatman Scoop dies after fainting during concert

American rapper Fatman Scoop, 53, died in a hospital where he was transferred after collapsing during a concert on Friday in Connecticut (United States), according to his family.

“It is with deep sadness and regret that we share the news of the passing of the legendary and iconic Fatman Scoop,” a message on his Instagram page read on Saturday, although the cause of his death was not mentioned.

Before being taken to hospital, the singer received help from emergency services.

“Last night the world lost a radiant soul, a beacon of light on stage and in life,” read the message following the sudden death at age 53 of Isaac Freeman III, known in the entertainment world as Fatman Scoop.

They also remember him as someone who made them smile, dance to his music and embrace life with positivity. “Fatman Scoop was not only a world-class artist, he was a father, a brother, an uncle and a friend. “He was the laughter in our lives, a constant source of support, an unwavering strength and courage,” the statement continued.

Fatman Scoop’s career took off in the late 90s in the United States. Throughout her career, she has collaborated with great artists: Missy Elliott, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson and Pitbull, among others.

One of the videos posted by his fans on social media shows him shirtless cheering on the crowd gathered at Town Center Park in Connecticut shortly before he fainted.

Fatman Scoop’s career took off in the late 90s in the United States. Throughout her career, she has collaborated with great artists: Missy Elliott, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson and Pitbull, among others.

In the late 90s, his song “Be Faithful”, in collaboration with the hip-hop duo Crooklyn Clan, became an anthem in the clubs and at parties.

In July 2024, Fatman Scoop collaborated with Tech N9ne on the single “No Popcorn” and on the same day of his death, he released two new singles: “Let It Go,” featuring Dyce Payso, and “Our House,” featuring Dutch electronic bingo players and American DJ group Disco Fries, according to his biography.

Artists he worked with, like Missy Elliott, mourned his death. “Fatman Scoop’s VOICE and energy contributed to MANY songs that made people HAPPY and wanted to dance for over two decades,” he noted in his post on X.

Questlove, of hip-hop group The Roots, called the singer “the embodiment of what hip-hop was really about.” Just forget about the problems, live in the moment and let the joy in.
