A 26-year-old man of English nationality died in Talavera de la Reina after falling from the Castilla-La Mancha bridge, which he had climbed to create content for social networks. The Councilor for Citizen Security, Macarena Muñoz, explained that the young man fell while climbing the bridge, the highest of its kind in the country. Muñoz recalled that this is something that is “totally prohibited” and that has been reiterated on “a multitude of occasions” by the town hall.
The young man was accompanied by another 24-year-old man of English nationality. “As we learned, they had come to Talavera to climb the bridge and create content for social media, which resulted in this disastrous and sad result,” he added. The judge and medical examiner have already removed the body, which they have taken to the funeral home.
For their part, sources from the 112 Emergency Service confirmed that the deceased fell while climbing the infrastructure, events which occurred at 7:14 a.m. this Sunday.
Members of the National Police and the Local Police and the Talavera firefighters went to the scene, as well as an intensive care unit which was only able to note the death of the person concerned.
At 192 meters high, the Castilla-La Mancha Bridge in Talavera de la Reina is the highest cable-stayed bridge in the country.
