This Saturday, October 12, the Balearic Civil Guard celebrated the feast of its patroness, the Virgin of the Pillar, during an event organized in Port d’Andratx (Mallorca), where the colonel-in-chief of the Benemérita of the Islands, Alexandre Hernandezwho presided over the event, highlighted the “professionalism, spirit of sacrifice and courage” of the body.
Many authorities attended the party, such as the delegate of the Spanish Government to the Islands, Alfonso Rodriguez; the mayor of Andratx, Estéfânia Gonzalvo; the Minister of the Presidency and Public Administrations, Antonia Maria Estarellas; the Minister of Family and Social Affairs, Catalina Waxand the Minister of Education and Universities, Antoni Veraamong others.
The event started with fashion show and magazine of the Benemérita Guards, as well as the national anthem. During the festival there was also a tribute to the deaths of the Armed Institute.
The colonel in chief of the Civil Guard of the Balearic Islands, Alejandro Hernández, summarized the multiple actions carried out by the guards in three terms which, according to him, define the work carried out: “professionalism, spirit of sacrifice and courage“.
For his part, the government delegate congratulated the Civil Guard for having won “the respect of all” who believe “that the tolerance, respect and solidarity but justice and the protection of constitutionally recognized rights are also essential ingredients of coexistence.
