The PSOE seems calm before the announcement of the Popular Party on what it will present a complaint against them for “corruption, influence peddling and illegal financing”. They describe their reaction as “excessive” and resort to the past to recall that the blue party “still has 30 open files” for corruption.
This was stated on Sunday by the spokesperson for the federal executive of the PSOE, Esther Peña: “The PP is still exaggerating”. Peña recalled that his party took “only five days” to suspend José Luis Ábalos from activism after learning of the arrest of Koldo García.
In fact, the socialist spokesperson insisted that the PP is not qualified to talk about corruption: “When the PP acts in this way against corruption, it will be able to teach lessons. In the meantime, they will continue to be the party that destroyed computers with hammers, the party of bonuses and the party of “Luis, be strong”.
“There are still 30 open files, 30 trials where I hope we can finally find out who Mr. Rajoy was“, added Esther Peña on this subject.
Furthermore, he responded to Feijóo and his statements in which he assured that Pedro Sánchez should have called a press conference to give explanations on the “Koldo case”: “Feijóo does not have the moral authority in this country to demand explanations from anyone. It is an anomaly in Europe that a person with a drug-trafficking friend aspires to preside over a government.
The government also conveys tranquility. The Minister of Digital Transformation, Óscar López, says Pedro Sánchez has a “hard hand” with corruption: “Spain has an honest government and a president resolute against corruption.. If Sánchez showed anything, it’s that not a single one happens.”
Science Minister Diana Morant also looked to the past. In his case, it must be remembered that Sánchez presented himself to the government with a motion of censure against the PP for its latest corruption scandal: “In the PSOE we have zero tolerance for corruption in our DNA. Sánchez came to govern our country through a motion of censure against corruption.”
And regarding Sánchez, his vision is known thanks to the informal conversation he had with journalists on National Day. While he didn’t say he wasn’t concerned about what happened, he insisted on defending what the government has done in the time since the inquiry controversy erupted and passed the buck to Alberto Núñez Feijóo and Santiago Abascal, ensuring that they are the real “Torquemadas” of corruption.
