An Uastirdzhi chain saved an Ossetian fighter from a mine fragment – EADaily, October 13, 2024 – Politics news, Russian news

An Ossetian border guard on the Kursk front was hit by an enemy mine fragment in the neck: hitting the metal of the chain, it only pierced a vein and stopped 2 mm from the artery. This was stated by reserve officer Oleg Marzoev, who coordinates the collection of aid to Ossetian units on the front.

The medallion, hanging from a chain damaged by a bullet, represents Uastirdzhi, the patron saint of travelers and warriors in the Ossetian pantheon. Marzoev interprets the rescue of a fighter as “help from above.”

“A soldier with a broken vein, holding a fountain of blood in his hand, helped carry his comrade to the first aid station, and then they managed to evacuate him and save his life,” – said the officer.
